Early example of conceptual film by Bill Lundberg featured at Blanton

The Blanton Museum's presentation offers viewers a rare opportunity to experience this important work by a forefather of film and video installation. Lyle Lovett and his Large Band perform at Bass Concert Hall
8 p.m., Bass Concert Hall. Four-time Grammy Award winner Lyle Lovett is equally comfortable in pop, rock, blues and country. Born just outside Houston, Lovett is one of America's great songwriters and has a gift for big band arrangements that has no precedent among his contemporaries. He also displays a literary talent that has made him part of the tradition of American ironists. While music should be and is open for interpretation by the listener, Lovett's new album, "It's Not Big, It's Large," suggests notions of mortality, loss and the fluidity of time. That sounds like heavy going, but it is Lovett's gift to make the deep thoughts slide down like honey.
